Neat old Johnson Fare Box, Chicago Pat 1465409. This is the large size coin holder that the bus or trolley conductor/driver used to collect the fares. This one has 6 slots, I suppose for 1/2 dollars, quarters, dimes, nickles and pennies as well as the tokens that the bus and trolley companies used. It is made of chrome or stainless steel and is quite heavy 3 lbs, with no coins in it. It works great all the mechanism work well, although note the bottom holders on one slot are missing. Has the hooks at the ends that were used to fasten to the coin persons belt and a curve to the inside to mold to the body. Very cool item, you could wear it to a costume party with a hat matching pants and shirt and be Ralph Cramden from the Honeymooners.!!!! Really nice old collectable and hard to find in good condition. The item has been packed away for 30 years. Please check my other auctions for more items that I have collected over the years. Please note. I don't have half dollars to test so they could be too large for the end slot, however quarters fit in easily.
