I am offering a wonderful large set of Towle OLD COLONIAL sterling flatware with lots of serving pieces...eighteen to be exact. This set is in great condition, having had only light and careful use. The tines on the forks are still sharp as are the tips on the spoons. It is unmonogrammed. The back of the handles are marked as to silver content: 925/1000 STERLING, the Towle hallmark, and Pat. 1895. The set consists of 89 pieces total. T are 8 place forks (7"), 8 place knives (8 3/4") with modern stainless blades, 12 salad forks (6 1/4"), 12 teaspoons (5 1/2"), 6 soups (6 1/4"), 8 iced tea spoons, 5 seaford forks, 8 butter spreaders, 4 demitasse spoons, 1 sugar tongs, 1 pie/cake server, 1 pastry server, 1 gravy ladle, 1 cold meat fork, 1 sauce ladle, 2 large tablespoons, 2 pierced nut spoons, 1 bon bon server, 1 cheese spreader, 1 lemon fork, 1 master butter, 1 carving knife and 1 carving fork, 1 sugar spoon and 1 pierced tomato server. This is a beautiful set of heirloom sterling in a fantastic pattern. Very rarely do you see a set of Old Colonial...and very rarely do you see a set with this variety of serving pieces. T is no chest or case with this offering. This was the way it was purchased from a local estate. Thanks for your interest in this great set of vintage sterling.
I have closely examined this set again and noticed that the serving pieces with stainless blades and 3 of the place knives are unmarked. The family who previously owned this set may have had the blades replaced. All the other serving pieces and the place pieces are marked : 925/1000 , the Towle hallmark, STERLING, Pat. 1895. This set came directly out of a home w it was originally purchased as a set, and wasn't put together piece by piece. It all appears to be the same vintage.
