A large antique illustrated family bible. This bible contains some family history going back to 1826. These pages consist of a family register, births marriages and deaths. The bible also contains many engraving plate pictures and maps. All of the pages are in good condition with no rips, tears or creases. The side of the pages are in gold gilt. The hardback cover is split down the spine. This bible has been up in our loft for many years and I know for a fact it has been read by my late mother from cover to cover. It took her years to read! Anyway, inside it reads: The Illustrated Family Bible containing Old and New Testaments according to the authorised versions with marginal references and illustrations, practical and devotional reflections and numerous explanatory notes by the Reverend John Brown. And critical and explanatory notes with concluding remarks on each book prepared by the Rev J B Patterson and the Rev A S Patterson. Also a historical and geographical gazetteer of the Holy Scriptures containing the proper name of every person and place with its pronunciation, literal meaning and first occurence.
