RARE & BEAUTIFUL PERSIAN KURDISH TRIBES SADDLEBAG FACING or POSHTI, 3rd quarter of the 19th century, and in excellent overall condition for the collector. Exact size: 2'-4" x 3'-2" (71 x 97 cm). An unusual Kurdish khorjin facing (or Pushti = seating mat or pillow cover) displaying a bold flowering garden design with two zoomorphic quadrapeds all of which seem three dimensional coming off the dark indigo blue field and a very archaic border surround on three of the four sides using an ancient "curled leaf" design found on early Anatolian carpets from the Seljuk period. The present offering has 100% natural, rich and vivid, dyes and comes in almost full pile condition with slightly lower pile in the very center. I noticed three expert repairs; one to the bottom left corner, one to the weft-float brocading at the top left center, and one in the left center of the field in the flower head below the dog (or goat) effigy. You can only see this restoration upon close inspection. This lovely bag face comes complete with its original side cord finishes and weft-float brocaded end read more
