An interesting and decorative blue and white pottery item. I would describe it as a Pearlware pot lid. As you can see it is round and measures a fraction under 6 inches in diamater and 1 inch deep. The top edge is unglazed and quite rough. It is possible that it was sealed with wax around the edge. I would be pleased to hear from anyone with further information. It is decorated with a country scene and two young women and a child, gathering grain left behind by the reapers. Looking at the back you can see the blue tinge to the glaze, which is found on English Pearlware. I would date the lid to circa 1820. I have photographed it all round and hope you can see that it displays beautifully and will make a worthy addition to your collection. Please feel free to ask any questions or if you require further images I am happy to email them to you. Thanks for your interest, Amanda.
