Here we have a very large (17" tall to the top of the burner collar) fine antique red cut to clear overlay oil lamp circa 1850-1860. I'm not to sure if this is a sandwich lamp or not. The casting looks like something from Cornelius and Baker. This is a nice scarce size. There's a good double stepped base of marble and cast brass that make up the bottom. Coming up from that there's a fine bulbous column with cut sphere and oval decorations. The small cast piece above that is nicer than the average with good leaf decorations. The main font is finely cut with decorative stars and spheres inside arch type decorative cuts and has some oval decorations on top too. I don't usually find these in this large size. Lamp has been electrified and does have some minor chips and a minor check just in the marble pieces. Glass is chip or crack free. Base measures six inches square!
