Welcome to Classique Jewellery Description This is a divine locket from around 1890-1895 , a genuine Art Nouveau treasure. This is a beautiful example with tested , solid 9ct ROSE gold panels, having a gilt carcass for strength, typical era locket construction. As can be seen, this is an unusual SHIELD shape, with ornate, elaborate decoration to BOTH sides, depicting stylised, flowing, sinuous, organic floral and foliate designs; typical late Victorian/Art Nouveau artistry There is a small vacant cartouche for personalised inscription. It measures 2.7cms , ( 3.5cms including the jump-ring), by 2.35cms , and it weighs a hefty 7.9 grams . It opens to reveal compartments, suitable for storing and displaying photographs, locks of hair or other such personal keepsakes. It is complete with liners, and a gold retaining rim and its ORIGINAL glass panel to one side. Other than superficial blemishes that serve to enhance its charm and authenticity, it is in a splendid condition, and is a wonderful piece to enhance any collection, as well as being an heirloom beauty for any occasion.
