A Very Large Authentic Alaska Gold Quartz Placer Nugget

A very large authentic Alaska gold quartz placer nugget. This particular nugget weighs approximately 1.61 troy ounces and was prospected in the Yukon region of Alaska about 10 years ago in 2000. This nugget measures approximately 1 3/8 inches long by 1 inches wide and was purchased from a very well known and respected western artifacts dealer in the Chicago Park / Colfax, California area. He and his wife are regular vendors at the Grass Valley Old West Show held yearly at the Nevada County Fairgrounds during the first two weeks of May and specialize in gold rush artifacts among the items they sell. In respect for their privacy I will not print their names in this listing but will give their contact information to the winning bidder of this auction upon its completion. This nugget is outstanding in its appearance and is a great example of an Alaskan Placer nugget specimen whose surface has been smoothed out due to its prolonged exposure to running water over thousands of years. This particular specimen is large in size and mass and has several areas where there is exposed rock and quartz material that is embedded into its surface. This nugget is natural in its appearance and finish, having never been chemically cleaned, polished or tampered with in any way. Large authentic placer nuggets of this size are quite rare and this one is especially nice. Insurance is required for this purchase. With insurance the buyer will be responsible for a postage total of $28.50.
