THE REASON FOR THIS IS: THE LAST TIME I GOT SHIPPING QUOTES FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS IT WAS IN EXCESS OF $50 JUST TO GET IT ACROSS TOWN (BECAUSE IT IS OVERSIZE, OVERWEIGHT, AND TAKES AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF PACKING MATERIAL). LOCAL DELIVERY IS AN OPTION, BUT PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE YOU BID. SO...LOCAL PICK UP ONLY.OK now that we've got all that over with, I can tell you about this great old Indian pot. This has become a very popular (and increasingly rare) Bauer shape because of its Arts & Crafts period origin and Prairie School design. This is a fairly large one, 14 1/4" across and 9 1/4" tall. It is marked by hand on the bottom with the number "12". It is solid, with no chips or cracks. T is some edge deterioration to one side only (see photo). Interestingly, it bears traces of several colors of paint on the lower curve which gives it a pleasant "mossy" look. It is unclear whether the paint is original or a later addition; it was, however, common in the 1920's for Bauer to finish several of their shapes with painted finishes rather than glazes.
