This is an amazing, large hand painted Sevres compote made in the 19th Century. It is made from mainly porcelain with fancy bronze details. The compote measures 11" high, 8 1/2" wide at the largest part and 4" wide at the base. The cover is signed on the back side with the makers markings, The Chateau Des Tuileries stamp, LL, and the year 1846. What makes this piece so special is that is it mounted on a bronze base. The top cover features two scenes. One is of two women and a man in royal clothing sitting in a wooded area. The women are both wearing fancy dresses featuring long trains. Both of the women are holding fans while the man is reading from a book and holding a cane. Below the man, you can notice the artist's signature. On the other side you can see a scene of a castle in the background with a bridge that goes over a calm body of water, which is surrounded by a wooded area. The compote has an amazing raised gold detailed work surrounding the entire piece and the handles feature gilted work. Also, on the inside of the piece, t is a hand painted floral design. This is a very fancy item with a deep royal blue base color and the designs feature many different colors. No chips, dings or cracks to the item. Please make sure to check my other items for sale. Happy bidding!!!
