Large Bowl L.E. Smith Black Amethyst Glass Art Deco
This is a distinctive bowl in black amethyst glass, I believe by L.E. Smith, with a distinctly art deco style. Note the unusual base and spiral handles. This is a large bowl, measuring 9 1/2âe by 10âe and spanning 14 1/4" from handle to handle. It is about 5" high to top of handle. Though this bowl appears to be black, if you hold it up to a light source you can see a vivid purple. T are no chips or cracks, and it is in excellent condition. It does have some light interior marks at the inside bottom from utensils and cleaning. The manufacturing seams can be felt. T are no markings, but my research leads me to believe that it is by L.E. Smith. My mother owned this item and probably bought it in the 1940s or 50s, but I canâe(tm)t be sure. This bowl displays impressively. It is very heavy, close to four pounds when packaged. Everything we have ever sold on e-Bay has been in our family, never bought at auction, garage sale, antique store, etc. We are not experts at anything but do try to research what we have for sale (we're moving to an apartment after 49 years in the same house!) Our rating is 100% because we have always been fair with people. So bid with confidence.
