This auction is for a stunning Hindu Ganesha statue.
This statue is in the lounging position atop the coils of a 3 headed cobra. His companion & the beasts he rides (a mouse) is seated at his side, representing the fact that he is humble enough to ride the most unprepossessing of creatures.. Ganesh is holding in his lower right hand like a pen, his broken tusk, broke while writing the heroic epic "Mahabharata". In his lower left hand a bowl of sweets and a goad in one upper arm and a noose in the other upper arm as symbols of his ability to cut through obstacles or to create them as needed.
Ganesha is worshipped as the lord of beginnings, the lord of hope light and dissapointment, the lord of obstacles patron of arts and sciences, and the god of intellect and wisdom.
This wonderful bronze is quite impressive in size. He measures approximately: 11 & 1/4 inches tall with a 9 inch by 6 inch across base.
