Included in this auction is a Plain-Bell steam whistle manufactured by the Buckeye Iron and Brass Works of Dayton, Ohio.

Whistle Bell is 2.5" in diameter.

Overall height of the whistle is 13"

The integral valve works freely and seals nicely.

All parts of the whistle appear to be entirely original -- even the lever and screw.

Steam slot spacing is even all around, and the languid plate is flat.

I have tested this whistle on 100psi steam, and the sound is pleasing and loud.

It is important to note that Buckeye plain-bell whistles incorporated a bell made of brass into their design. Brass, by nature, is quite easily subject to steam pitting and erosion, due to live steam's action on the materials that comprise it. Tfore, it is relatively uncommon to come across a buckeye without any deterioration on the lip of the bell. -- This whistle is an exception to that rule, as the pictures will show! --

The Whistle is in extraordinarily nice condition, with only a few of your typical wrench marks, but other than that, the whistle is almost flawless.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. But in any event - don't miss the chance to acquire this amazing Buckeye whistle.
