I recently purchased a Japanese collection of Chinese porcelain, some pieces of which would have been made specifically for the Japanese market, and are rarely seen in the West. I have attempted to list them as accurately as I am able, but as some of these I have never seen before, buyers should take care and bid and buy on your own judgment.

DESCRIPTION:
A nicely painted large Chinese bowl, with a design of lotus scrolls. The cavetto plain in a white glaze, and the underside bearing a six character Qianlong (1736 to 1795) seal mark.

Stand is not included

185mm ( 7.4 inches) Diameter

Condition:
No chips, no cracks and no restoration. Minor glaze runs in the cavetto.

Comment:
This bowl, and the other two marked examples listed this week, were sold to me as 19th century. They are of a type I have not previously encountered, and these bowls are heavier than what I would have expected. If they prove to be mark and period, then the high bidder has a bargain. I am not prepared to put a date on them, so please understand you are bidding and buying on your own judgment.

INSURANCE:
New Zealand Post does not insure antiques unless they are sent by their prohibitively expensive Courier Post. However, Allen's Antiques offers insured air post to a maximum cover of $US500, to the following countries: U.S.A., Canada, Australia, New Zealand. Any antique item sent by economy post is uninsurable, and at the buyer's risk.
If the combined cost of the item plus the postage/shipping exceeds $US500, then for the item to be insured, it must be sent by United Parcel Service. Items sent by United Parcel Service may be insured up to $US40,000.
