Large Chinese Scholar's Bookshelf or Curio Shelf - probably Elm, likely a 20th century reproduction. Excellent condition, beautiful patination. 31" wide, 11.5" deep, 62.5" high. Open bookshelves like this, according to Mazerkuwich, were an important part of the Chinese scholar's library, and by the late Ming shelves like this displayed books and curios that were part of the scholar's status symbol. This bookshelf was bought at an antique market in China and imported when I moved back to the US a few years ago. Am now moving back to China, and can't take all these beautiful pieces with me. Condition - great condition with only one area noted (see last picture) w one shelf is slightly expanded at joint as common in furniture aging. Shipping: Must be picked up on location in Los Angeles (or possibly San Francisco - contact if you have questions).
