You are bidding on a piece of new jersey amber with one insect inclusion. ABOUT THE AMBER This amber is 92 to 95 million years old, making it one of the oldest ambers with possible bug inclusions. Thousands of tons of Dominican and Baltic ambers are mined every year, as opposed to only the few tons of rare New Jersey Cretaceous amber found, ever . Also, Dominican and Baltic amber is not nearly as old, rare, or valuable when compared to New Jersey amber. In my experience, Baltic and Dominican amber with common insects have sold for just dollars a piece. The few places online that sell New Jersey amber with insect inclusions have sold these pieces for hundreds of dollars each. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THIS PIECE HAS ONE INSECT, THE BODY IS ALMOST 4MM LONG AND WITH THE LEG STREACHED OUT IS 9MM NOSE TO FOOT WOW, JUST LOOK AT THE PICS!!! THE REAR TIP OF ITS BACK IS JUST TOUCHING THE SURFACE OF THE AMBER,, IF PAYMENT IS SENT AT AUCTIONS END I CAN SHIP NEXT DAY, IF NOT SHIPPING MUST WAIT TILL I RETURN FROM VACATION THE FOLLOWING WEEK, JUST THINK, THESE INSECTS COULD HAVE SAT ON A DINOSAURS BACK!!!!!!!! Only a few ambers in the world are from the time of the dinosaurs, and this is one of them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This amber was dug in the Raritan formation in Sayreville, New Jersey (by myself) six to ten feet under the surface in thick bands of lignite. Before this area became a construction site, it had previously and successfully been mined for amber by scientists from the Museum of Natural History. This amber has only been found in a few places throughout New Jersey, and the location this amber was mined is said to have more insect-bearing amber than the others. In fact, it is the same type of amber where the oldest mushroom, ant, and flower were discovered! Over a hundred new species of bugs and plants have come from the pit where this amber was mined. Many of the pieces are small; that is what's mostly found, but the smallest piece could have the most valuable treasure. For more information on New Jersey amber, just search the web or go to /jdp/misc/amber.htm . You are bidding on what you see in the picture and the amber is wet when photographed. All measurements are in inches. Read my feedbacks and - this is 100% authentic, New Jersey amber GUARANTEED . If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Good Luck
