A LARGE DRESDEN / CAPODIMONTE FIGURAL GROUP EMBLEMATIC OF THE ARTS "Le Arti" - The Arts An outstanding figural porcelain group depicting the arts, with putti modelled as musician, artist and scribe, arranged before a bust of Ceasar on a marble plinth. Behind the plinth are masks and an open book. The modelling is superb , and every finger and fine detail is intact. The group is mounted on a highly decorative gilt metal stand. An old repair can be seen to the base from underneath, but this is hardly visible and does not affect any of the figures. The blue mark (see image) has been identified as that of the Porcelain Decorating Studio, Dresden , (they used this mark circa 1910-1930). However, just to confuse matters there is an incised mark at the back of the plinth on which the musician is sitting, which reads Tyche Tosca (we are informed that Tyche Tosca was an artist associated with Capodimonte porcelain). Whatever the attribution, this is a very rare group of the highest quality. Dimensions: Max width: 14", Total height including base: 14" This is very heavy and fragile so will need to be collected. We could possibly arrange personal delivery or meet halfway (depending on location) - please contact us before you bid if you are not able to collect! Payment accepted by Paypal, cheque, bank transfer or credit/debit card. Dresden, read more
