It is solid walnut stained to a medium/dark color. The carving is very deep and three dimensional: notice the fine detail in the singing figures. This panel was originally the center door in a large French buffet-note the keyhole on one side. It is in very good antique condition: solid with no damage except for a very slight warping of the frame and minor nicks and scratches consistent with its age. Also, the two small walnut appliqués are slightly bowed and lifting in the corners. However this slight imperfection it is hardly noticeable.
