Here is a large French Faience pottery Night-light made in the late 18th century in Marseille by Honor é Savy. The factory closed in 1790. The piece as been converted to electric light but as not been drilled the hanging hook screws off and the carousel shaped top as a hole which is glazed so was always there. The frame around the doorway as come off and is broke but all pieces are there and could be restored. I do not understand why it would have a frame to open the only thing I can think is if the back was covered with meshing maybe? finely painted with scenes to both sides.The damage apart from the door frame is a tight hairline from the side of the opening to the foot, 2cm long. There is some small glaze flakes on the underside of foot. There is some black firing specks on the piece. There is no restoration at all. SEE IMAGES BELOW.The is a large and heavy piece of pottery, it is 36.5 cm or 14.5 inches high and weights 1.75 KG before packing.
