This is a BEAUTIFUL VERY UNUSUAL example of a German Wall Clock with WESTMINSTER CHIMES, WHITTINGTON CHIMES, AND ST. MICHAEL CHIMES in absolutely perfect condition. German Wall clocks are of the highest quality. It was made in Germany circa post WWII, probably the late 40s. The German clocks in our collection have not yet required any servicing and have kept perfect time for many, many years. This particular model is in perfect, ALL ORIGINAL condition. It has an 8-day time, strike and chime - your choice of WESTMINSTER/WHITTINGTON/ST MICHAEL CHIMES movement. One of the very few German wall clocks this musical for sure! When you choose WESTMINSTER it chimes on every quarter hour and also strikes the hours on the hour on 4 chime rods with a very beautiful mellow sound. The clock strikes on the quarter-hour and counts the hours on the hour on its large beautiful sounding chime rods with a wonderful pleasant sound. It plays 4 notes at the first ¼, 8 notes on the half hour, 12 notes on the ¾ hour and 16 notes plus strikes the hour on the hour! Which chimes on every quarter hour and also strikes the hours on the hour on 12 chime rods with a very beautiful mellow sound. When you choose Whittington or St. Michael Chimes the clock strikes on the quarter-hour and counts the hours on the hour on all 13 chime rods. It plays 8 notes at the first ¼, 16 notes on the half hour, 24 notes on the ¾ hour and 32 notes plus strikes the hour on the hour with a four note chord! The movement is attached to its original seat board which slides out for easy adjustment and viewing. This clock is very large and very heavy and measures 34 inches high, 13 ¼ inches wide and 8 ½ inches deep. The clock has a nice quiet way it ticks also. The case is beautiful with nearly no blemishes at all with a beautiful design with carvings on the front. The dial is in superior perfect condition. The dial glass is convex. Original hands. Complete with the original pendulum which is also in very good condition, with its original screw and pendulum holder in which to adjust the clock for slow and fast. Has its large heavy duty original key! The back of the clock is perfect. If you are looking for a large impressive clock, with great chimes that was very well made and "taken well care of" its entire life - THIS IS IT! You can also turn off the chimes in case you have company staying over that are not used to a chiming clock. The movement slides out for easy oiling and servicing, no need to even take the dial or hands off. This is one of the very best looking and sounding clocks we have come across in a long time. You can select the chime you want on the dial. These antique clocks amaze me - could you imagine any other consumer product still working perfectly after a hundred years! And the truly amazing thing it is ready for the next 100 years, and will probably run indefinitely with tender loving care. Antique Clocks are a Fine Investment. Each one has a unique quality, as well as appreciating in value and beauty with age.
