You are bidding a Large 8" Tall X 4 7/16 "X 4 ¼ " J & E Stevens Jewel Safe bank. I don't know how rare this safe is because I could not find one in the cast iron safe book in this size. I found an identical safe but in a much smaller size. All I can say is that I have collected cast iron banks for a long time and I have never seen another Steven Jewel Safe in this size. The pictures show all the imperfections and the lock is not working but then again I have never seen a Steven Jewel Safe bank which had a key or a working lock. It may be possible to repair the lock as it appears to all be t but I have never tried to fix it or tried to find someone to fix it. The door works fine and t are no cracks or repairs and the finish although not like new is in excellent condition for the age of this fine work of art. I say work of art because that is always the way I have looked at it because to me it is wonderful in every way and has been one of the key pieces in my collection and I hope the new owner enjoys looking at it and comes to appreciate it as much as I have over the years. The smaller version of this safe was patented in 1907; I have no idea when this safe was made but I guarantee it to be original and old. I ship only within the United States .
