This item is a RARE antique Lunkenheimer plain bell steam locomotive whistle and it is complete, looks good, and works great! I was told this one came from a steam locomotive that was running in California at one time. This same size whistle was also used on many other items, like steam boats, factories, ships, etc. It reads 6 over 200 on one side of the valve and LUNKENHEIMER on the other side. The whistle is indeed 6 inches in diameter, which is full steam locomotive size, and overall a little under 24 inches tall. That's almost 2 feet tall! The 6 inch diameter whistle is perhaps one of the most rarest sizes and hardest to find of all Lunkenheimer steam whistles. It is very heavy weighing in at around 38 pounds. It has a 1 1/2 inch threaded female inlet. It has a few slight pipe wrench marks on the hex nut on the side of the valve. It also has several very small scratches/scuffs on the top of the bell and the acorn nut on top from it's years of usage. The bell is otherwise in good condition, no dents. I'm sure that with a little polish and elbow grease it would clean up and shine very nicely! I have tested this whistle on air on my 100 gallon ir tank and at 90 pounds it sounded great! It made a loud, deep, beautiful, mellow, pleasant, and melodious sound. This steam whistle would be great for a collector to display, or to actually read more
