This is the first of three large antique milliners or shop display models that I am currently listing,I have put a picture of all three models up as a second photo for comparison purposes ,but this auction is only for the model shown in the rest of the photosI was told by the vendor that they were purchased in a Harrods of London Antique Auction some time in the late 1940's or early 1950's,and that a large price was paid for them,I have tried to track down their listings but so far to no avail.Harrods of Knightsbridge used to run auctions in Sloane Avenue.With carved wooden head neck shoulders and hands, Its made of either boxwood or lime I think,with very fine carving and no damage to the carving that I can see,apart from some light marks.have a look at the photos and judge for yourself.It stands 18" inches (450mm) high approx on the base,which has a makers mark of a large C enclosing a small W, so it seems to be CW or WC, Im not sure who this is,I would be interested if someone could tell me.The base is loose and comes off on this one.The head neck and shoulders are carved from a single block and this block is down as far as the mid chest area,though most is covered by the high neck dress.The silk sheer over dress with embroidery on the bottom edge is in delicate condition and has a lot of tears and staining.The faded pink under read more
