Up for auction is a lovely, lead glass, etched sculpture by Mats Jonasson. It is a large-sized sculpture of a heron, and measures 4-1/2 inches by 6 inches by 2 inches deep! Detail is phenomenal ; please refer to photos so you can see the fine workmanship on the feathers in particular. The bottom surface is etched "Mats Jonasson Sweden", followed by a number that may be J606 or 2606. (see photos) I have searched and SEARCHED on the web, and cannot find another example of this particular Jonasson piece. There are similar pieces here and there, but none exactly like this, so it may be an older example? Because the number etched is either three digit (with a letter prefix) or four digit, and he is using five digits for current pieces, might be of significance? Surprisingly heavy! It is in excellent condition except for a 1cm long, very shallow scratch that can be seen in the final photo. Look in the open space just behind the heron's right "knee". I'm tempted to say that this mark is more like a rub than a scratch, because it is so extremely shallow, except for the end 2 mm of so of the mark. It can only be seen if the piece is held just right. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at all.
