This is a very large model steam boat made by the boat builder Cecil Walker of Tewkesbury in the 1920s or 30s.According to his nephew, Cecil Walker was a wooden boat builder at Lower Lode Tewksbury before the second world war.He built rowing boats for Magdalen College Oxford. He made these models from left over scraps of mahogany for his family. This model was going to have a steam engine but it never had one fitted. The metal funnel base is brass lined to protect it from the heat.It does have however the stern tube and brass propeller. It is very large, over three feet long with out the rudder and the beam is 9 Inches. (94 cm x 23 cm).It still sits on the original velvet padded display stand. It is built just as he built his rowing boats, mahogany plank on frame and held together with copper rivets. The model has been kept on his family sideboard and regular polishing has given it the deep rich patina which you can't reproduce. Its sitting on my sideboard now and I'm growing very attached to it so get it bought before I give in and keep it.If you have any questions regarding this item please don't hesitate to contact me.It weighs before packing just under 3 Kilos.UK postage and packing is £8.00.
