This species is found in the Indo-Pacific region What do they look like? At first glance reef-building or hard corals look like plants. They have lots of branches and many can look exactly like a tree without leaves. Closer inspection reveals them to be very different indeed! If you look at a living reef-building coral, it appears to be covered with what look like hundreds of tiny tentacle-bearing anemones. And that is what you are looking at. Reef-building corals are actually colonies of tiny polyps, each one a brown color due to the symbiotic cells called zooxanthellae. T are some exceptions to this general rule. Some corals are colored with pinks and blues for reasons that are unknown. Others have giant polyps and do not live in colonies.
