The large, official U.S. Presidential Military Commission, printed in script with ornate American eagle at top. Document signed by President Grover Cleveland and issued to Peter Leary, Jr., February 27, 1890, for promotion to Captain, `for gallant and meritorious service in actions against Indians in the Lava Beds, California, April 15 & 16, 1873`. Signed at bottom by Daniel S. Parrout, Secretary of War and President Grover Cleveland. Finely engraved panoply of arms at bottom with offical Presidential blue seal in lower left corner. A very rare Presidentially signed Indian Wars military commission. Size: 14 3/4-inches X 18 3/8-inches. 1000 - 1500
