Large Oil Painting 43" X 32" Seascape By Horst Alter/Altermann Germany 1925-1978 Album Album Album Album Album Album This is a large, framed oil on canvas seascape by the well known German artist Horst Altermann(also signed his work, Horst Alter). Horst was born in Dussledorf in 1925, and was a prolific artist in his lifetime. There is a lot of info about him on the web. His technique with light and the transparency of the waves is particularly well done. The painting alone measures 35" by 23", and overall(with frame)45" by 32". The painting is in perfect condition. with no issues whatsoever. There is no legible date on this painting, but the frame which is undoubtedly original is indicative of the framing done in the 1960's and 70's. The back of the frame was covered with brown paper at the gallery which sold the painting originally. The paper contains 2 labels. One which states that the painting was offered by The W. F. Burger Co., and that it was an original oil painting, registry number 79129, titled "Dunes", and that the artist was Alter. There is also a faded price of $400 written in pen and ink on that label. The other label tells a little about the artist, and states that his works are to be found in many important galleries in Germany, and other overseas countries.
