Robert Draper 1938-2000 From the age of two, the artist, who was born Robert Martin (son of Janet Descheeny and Frank Martin), was raised by his grandparents whose name was Draper. When he was eight years old and sent to the Chinle Boarding School, the school changed his name to Robert Draper. Robert Draper was born in 1938 on the Navajo Reservation. He attended the Chinle, AZ Boarding School and the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. He was best known for his realistic landscapes of the Navajo Reservation. This painting was aquired by my Grandparents in the 1960's. The pictures don't do it justice. They were avid collectors and/or friends of Indian artists. (Preston MonogyeJewelry, Maria Pottery, Charles Lovato, fetish necklaces, Yazz.) The painting is in excellent condition. Kept under UV glass out of direct sunlight. The frame is in good condition. It has a few scuffs and scrapes on some edges, barely noticable but expected for a painting this old. Category: Painting Title: Afternoon Chores Signed: Lower Right Size: 15"H x 20" W 25" H x 29" W in frame Medium: Watercolor Material/Ground: Paper Style: Post-Impressionism Subject: Landscape
