B. Owens Utopian art pottery. This is a large 8 1/4" Tulip vase/lamp base. It was made with a hole in the bottom for a lamp cord if one desired to use it as such. So far it has obviously been used for decorative purposes only as it is perfect in every respect. So the final use is up to you...it would make a lovely lamp and will add an elegant touch to any setting regardless of purpose! The piece has a tapered design with a wide bottom leading up to a gently tapered rim. The hand painted tulip decoration is large with yellows, oranges and browns over long and large green leaves. The typical Owens standard glaze is light green on the front fading to light and very dark browns. Hallmarked on the bottom "S0". Condition: Excellent. Not a single chip, crack, fleabite or hairline. Delicate glaze crazing consistent with age. Simply outstanding! Dimensions: 8 1/4" high with a 3 3/4" diameter base. Top rim diameter 3". 5 1/4" wide at the widest portion of the body. This is investment quality. I offer this exquisite J. B. Owens art pottery with no reserve. Other similar pieces are offered at $575 and up.
