Large German Paper Mache Boot with Santa, Antique Dolls, Wax Baby and SheepI am so happy to be able to bring to you this wonderful Early Vintage Santa Paper Mache Boot filled to the brim with Early Nativity Items and Bisque dolls. No made in China items, No Half pieces! Created by Victoria William Antiques, each item is lovingly chosen to represent the true Folklore of the German People at Chrismastime. Legend and history tells us the the family would put thier boots outside on Christmas eve for St. Nicholas to come by and fill with treats. A window was to be "left open" for the angel to come and leave a present inside. My mother, born in Munich used to tell me how wonderful this was growing up. Pease go to my website at victoriawilliamantiques (google) and read more.... A wonderfully handmade St. Nicholas with Rabbit trim and beard (look at those painted eyes!) holds lovingly in his arm the Little Children. A wax baby Christchild is in his right arm along with a fir branch. In his left arm he is holding an antique german baby bisque (ca. 1870-90), a german flocked large 4 inch Nativity Sheep (ca.1900) is teetering over the edge. Next to him is another baby german bisque with mohair and painted eyes (ca.1870-90). A watchtower clock is to her right. Hanging by Santa's right is a bag full of Nativity Putz clay figures (ca. 1880). Total height is 18 inches!! Boot alone is 10 inches. approx. The SANTA inside is a FULL Size, Fully poseable Santa measuring 14 inches tall! Now for the creme de la creme! A RARE die cut featuring an angel blessing a baby swaddled in ribbbons in the all familiar swaddling we see in the early Sonnenberg Taufling Dolls. They are encapsulated by Open/Closed gold gates. They rest on a netted/gatd bed. Early and all original circa 1890-1900. I think this is so charming, it's hard to offer it up, but that's what i do.... :) Victoria-William Antiques is delighted to announce the introduction of "Puppen & Speilzeug Shop".
