This is a large size - 8.25 inches tall - figural tobacco jar in Miessen style porcelain - egg-shaped featuring a flute playing bunny finial surrounded by applied flowers and children all dressed up for Easter. Probably of Austrian manufacture and dating to around 1890. There are a number of chips most significantly the end of the bunny's flute and a chunk off a boy's hat - see the photos. The other chips are minor - mostly to petals and leaves of the flowers. See the photos - they are an important part of the description. There are no cracks or repairs. This is a really rare old jar from the old collection I've been selling from (it is also pictured in Horowitz' HUMIDORS MOSTLY VICTORIAN on page 188). It deserves restoration and would be a great addition to any collection. Buyer pays shipping and applicable Virginia sales tax. If the shipping calculator makes a mistake (I estimate the weight and box size going in) I'll refund any overage.
