Large and beautifully colored, Mezcala Culture or Olmec Culture Bead. As is often the case with these larger beads, we are not sure how they were used. It is possible that this bead was part of a very heavy ear flare assembly. We know that the ear ornamentation of the Mesoamericans were extremely elaborate and heavy. This bead is in excellent condition and has superb green color. 37mm in diameter at base, 15mm in height. The top is somewhat rounded. The bead has deep conical drilling. We combine shipping costs.
