This is a wonderful old primitive cranberry rake. These were used in New England cranberry bogs to rake up the cranberries after the bogs flooded at harvest time. These rakes were made of a variety of materials and this one is made of maple and pine with a screen and tin cover at the base. The tines of the rake are wood. It is heavy and solid. It is quite large -- larger than many that we've seen. It has a double handle - this is what's used to push it forward through the bog and allow the large rake's bowl to catch the cranberries. This terrific large cranberry rake would make a wonderful accent piece in your home -- these old cranberry scoops are sometimes used as magazine or letter racks. They are highly decorative and a wonderful accent piece in primitive or country decor. Size is approximately 19" long 8" high and 18 1/2" wide. In great Condition no problems or repairs and even has the wood pc to keep the tines from warping when not in use. Winning bidder to pay all shipping and insurance costs.
