Large Retro 12K gold filled signed Harry Iskin pin brooch with amber stones, 40s Large 12K gold filled Harry Iskin brooch with rich amber stones. This dates to the Retro period of the late 30's, early 40's, when gold filled jewellery was very popular. (Gold filled means that at least 1/20th of the weight is pure gold - as hard wearing as gold itself). Set is in very good condition throughout - absolutely MINT except for a small loss of finish in the centre of the back (see pics). Design is a flower with ribbons, the amber stones are claw set. Colour is in two shades of gold - rose gold and yellow gold. Brooch is a full 3" long with roll bar pin in good working order. Brooch is signed on the back HI for Harry Iskin, also 1/20 12K GF. Will arrive in a gift bag. NB: Gold-filled or ‘rolled gold’ items, even with daily wear, can last up to 30 years. Gold-filled items are 50 to 100,000 times thicker than regular gold plating, and 17 to 25,000 times thicker than heavy gold electroplate. HARRY ISKIN : Late 1920s - 1943 Harry Iskin founded the Harry Iskin Company in Philadelphia, PA sometime in the late 1920s and in 1930, the company name was changed to Iskin Manufacturing Company.
