Gorgeous large deep purple amethyst stud earrings set in genuine 14 kt yellow gold basket settings. These settings have butterfly backs and are NOT flimsy or cheap. They are substantial and were bought in the 1970s when gold prices were reasonable. The stones are clear, deep purple, glowing and about 2 carats each, for a total of approximately 4 carats of high quality oval amethysts. Heavy weight of 2.4 grams. Although these are studs, they are bigger than the small studs of a carat or less you usually see and make a much bigger statement on the ear. These earrings can be returned if not as described.
