This pipe reminds me of a Swinks pipe. The pipe is a monster freehand, and is carved from fine briar. Carved by an independent carver, who is a friend of mine, and has been a pipe carver for many years. Ever since Swinks pipes went out of production, I was disappointed, until coming across these pipes.
I have been collecting freehand pipes for 5 years. I know all the big names. And I can tell you with great confidence that this pipe is probably the most incredible freehand ever to be made.
This pipe was carved by a friend of mine, who carved pipes independently. His name is not yet on the map, but his pipes smoke like a dream, and are carved from pure briar. This pipe fits in your hand, as though it was carved specifically to fit your hand. I would say that this is the best freehand pipe ever carved, when you consider the size, shape, and smoke quality. I have NEVER seen one more beautiful. Just look for yourself! This pipe is UNSMOKED. Never before been fired. I filled it with tobacco to see how much it would hold, and then dumped the tobacco out. Never lit. Never smoked. I am sure that you could smoke for over an hour out of this beauty. I was able to fit a good deal of tobacco in. Never smoked. T are ZERO FILLS on this pipe. Just a couple of tiny sand pits, and t, which is common to find in a massive hunk of briar like this. This pipe reminds me of a Swinks pipe.
This pipe is carved in a shape that I am not too sure how to describe. I has lots of spiral carving. Unbelievable design. The draw hole of the pipe is drilled center. The mouthpiece is a very high quality acrylic or lucite . I am not sure of which . The stem will not oxidize or discolor at all. HIGH quality stem. The stem has an original looking, unique design. Beautiful bend. The mouthpiece (stem) has no bite marks. The stem is in perfect mint condition.
The winner of this pipe is going to be very pleased. The pipe has gorgeous, beautiful and natural plateau on the rim. THE WALLS OF THIS PIPE ARE 3/4 of an INCH THICK. The 2 INCH DEEP bowl is in perfect condition. You can still see the bare wood. It is not smoked.
2 INCHES DEEP of a bowl will make for an incredibly LONG smoke.
This pipe feels feels like it was MADE for your hand. I've never felt a pipe in my hand feel better than this one with perfect balance and grip.
My friend Walt carved this pipe is a master carver , much like the SWINKS carvers in Franklin, Ohio. I am a collector of SWINKS pipes, and this pipe is right up t in good craftsmanship. The carver is obviously a master.

One thing I want to add is that this pipe was carved by an independent carver. It is not a mass produced pipe.
