This auction is for a beautiful old hand hooked wool rug. It's a pretty large one measures 9' long and just shy of 6' wide. The background color of the rug is a beige/cream or tan color. It has a pretty floral center with roses and other flowers and leaves. The center design measures a generous 52" by 30". The border is a peachy orangish color with what I think are very detiled oak leaves just inside the border. T are several different colors through out the rug to accent it. T are browns, tans, creams, black, different shades of light greens, peach colors, maroon and reddish colors. The colors go very well together and are made up of several subtle shades both for the flowers and the leaves. It is done very well. It is in very good sturdy condition and should last another 100 years or so. I'm not sure of the exact age of this rug but believe it to be early 1900's, turn of the century. Overall condition is very good. One side has a few small spots on it. They are not deep spots and should come if cleaned without any problem. You should be able to see this in photos. T is one small area that has had a couple small (1" to 3") repairs done on it on the big background cream colored area. T areas look a just a little lighter in color than the majority of the backrgound rug color. The color is so closely matched that no one will ever notice it. I have shown this in the photos as well. T are no tears, loose strands, bad odors ect. It's a very nice rug in very good condition. And very pretty, too. It was put together nice and tight. It is thick and heavy, too. Almost 25 pounds!!! This rug would look great in an old victorian home, shabby cottage or country home. It's a nice large size and will look fabulous w ever it is placed!!! I am starting very low with no reserve.
