LARGE VINTAGE BLISS BATTLESHIP NEW YORK

This auction is for a very large (35 ¾”) antique Bliss pull toy battleship marked New York on the stern. This boat is lithographed paper on wood, a truly exceptional original example of a Bliss toy. This is one of a very few boats of this size and complexity to survive without replacement parts – all original guns, funnels, stacks, and even the flags with five (5) crew members! This ship does not need a lot of restoration the paper litho has some fading from normal ageing as one would expect, and there is a section missing on the starboard (2” wide by 2 ½” deep). Two of the smaller cannons are loose and could be re-glued but this is not necessary. On the port side above the main cannon there was damage (maybe a blast from the enemy) it has been fixed with a replacement material but looks good. I believe the wheels are original and they do not have any cracks or chips and spin freely!

This is a wonderful example of navel warships and is simply an amazing example to display!!!

Missing parts (that I know of): Smoke stack x1, nails that hold the stern wheels in place – has replacement nails for now, one flag pole and flag – easily replaced if you desire.

I have seen one of these same battleships sell for $3,000.00

Approx. Measurements of Ship :

Length = 35 ¾”
