This Absolutely Stunning and Magnificent and Very Rare Large Vintage Old Pawn Native American Signed Navajo Indian All Custom Handmade and Hand Tooled Layered / Overlaid Solid Heavy Gauge .925 Sterling Silver Belt Buckle Ranger Set... The buckle measures: 2 3/8" longest x 1 7/8" widest.... It will fit up to a 3/4" wide belt...... The Loop piece measures: 1" longest x 1/2" widest x 3/4" tall and the opening on this loop piece is 7/8" x 1/2+".... The Tip piece measures: 1+" longest x 3/4+" widest and the opening on this Tip piece is 3/4" x 1/8+".. Every Piece of Sterling Silver on this Buckle was All Handmade and with thick heavy gauge sterling silver, you can see in the photos how thick this silver is and with the USA Quarter thickness for comparison.... This set weighs in at whopping 87 Grams.... It is signed with the personalized conjoined initials " HB " by the Old Navajo Artisan " Harvey Begay " , Harvey Begay was the son of famous Navajo silversmith Kenneth Begay... an acclaimed silversmith himself... featured in many books written about modern Southwest Jewelry. Sadly, Harvey Begay passed away on March 2, 2009. He was 70 years old. Harvey lived an exciting life. He was a combat pilot during the Vietnam War flying F4 Phantom Jets. Following Vietnam Harvey became a test pilot for McDonnell Douglas..... Later in his life, Harvey returned to creating beautiful jewelry... ... Dating pieces by hallmarks is another thing I see others are saying all items made before 1970s will not be signed and will not have a sterling benchmark, WELL, thats not correct, and the proof is in the historic registers of hallmarks that can be found in the hallmark books, there are some Native Americans who signed there pieces as far back as 1920's and some even earlier, and the benchmark Sterling has been stamped on pieces since the late 1800s and earlier, please don't take my word for it, go look it up yourself, I looked it up so I could help the ebay community know the truth, I am putting this info in our auction pages to help the buyers know the real story, and since we sell mostly Southwestern Indian Jewelry this needed to be said, there is no way anyone before us could of got a certificate from these silversmiths back them, they were not even needed or knew about back then, and we don't make or give certificates unless they came directly from the silversmith, a true Certificate of Authenticity comes from the silversmith and signed by the silversmith, not a second party. ADDITIONAL VERY IMPORTANT INFO ON CERTIFICATES OF AUTHENTICITY FOR NATIVE AMERICAN and OTHER ETHNIC JEWELRY. EBAY has updated its policy's incorporating the Indian Arts and Crafts Act to make sure the pieces being sold are true Native American Zuni, Hopi and Navajo items, as these 3 tribes have the most jewelry listed on ebay, and there are many other tribes as well " If you are listing a piece of art or craft work that you are describing as "Native American", "American Indian", "Indian" or "Alaska Native," or the product of a particular Indian Tribe or Alaska Native Village, please note that under the Indian Arts and Crafts Act, such items must be made by an enrolled member of a federally, or officially State-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native Village or by an individual certified as an Indian artisan by the governing body of one of these groups. Even when we are buying directly from the silversmith who made the piece, they don't give certificates of authenticity, most of the time when you see a C.O.A. its on a piece of jewelry in a high end gallery or museum collectible, thats why getting these C.O.A.'s on ebay are mostly not true certificates, and as you can see we specialize in the old pawn vintage Native American Jewelry, and they didn't give any Certificates back then, and thats another reason why we don't have them and we will not give out some bogus piece of paper saying we purchased it from so and so and we authenticate this piece for them, thats not a Certificate of Authenticity, so make sure you ask about the certificate before assuming its from the actual person who made it. OLD PAWN NATIVE AMERICAN JEWELRY RARELY EVER HAS A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY THAT COMES FROM THE PERSON WHO MADE THEM, BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE TO BE OBTAINED AT THE TIME THE PIECE WAS MADE AND SOLD, NOT LATER ON, AND THAT CERTIFICATE PASSED ON WITH THE PIECE FROM OWNER TO OWNER....
