This auction is for another tall or large Volkstedt Porcelain Ballerina that has been in our family since 1978. It had been in a personal collection prior to that time. We do not know when it was originally purchased. The maker's mark on the piece is of the "Oldest Volkstedt Porcelain Factory" in Germany (see photo, below). This mark appears to have been used by the maker from around 1915 to 1981. The piece is one of two large ballerinas that are being auctioned separately (see both, together, below). This ballerina stands approximately twelve inches tall (from the bottom of the base to the tallest point) and measures approximately eight inches at her widest measure. The porcelain and color of the ballerina's body and the base are in excellent condition with no evidence of damage or discoloration. The lace dress does have three very small areas of damage on the back at the hemline, and another very small area of damage on the left side just at the hemline (please review those areas in the photos, below). We have not discovered other areas of damage to the dress. T is an "88" marked in gold on the bottom of the base. Do not confuse this Volkstedt Ballerina with the smaller pieces produced by the maker. This one, and the other piece being offered separately, are much harder to find than the smaller pieces. Please study the photos carefully to appreciate the quality of this large Volkstedt Ballerina. It and the other piece (offered separately) are quite remarkable. I will be happy to respond to your questions, so please ask before you bid. The piece will be taken to a local UPS Store or Agent for packing and shipping. Given the quality of this piece, purchase of shipping insurance by the Buyer is recommended. I will make my photos available to you as proof of "original" condition should you have to file a claim of damage to the piece during shipping. Actual shipping and insurance costs (charged by the UPS Store or Agent) must be paid by the Buyer before the piece is shipped. Payment must be made through PayPal within 72 hours (3 days) from the end of the auction. Shipment will be initiated within 48 hours (2 days) after Seller receives PayPal notification of receipt of payment. Seller will communicate with Buyer regarding the actual cost of Shipping and Insurance; Shipping and Insurance must be paid before the item is shipped. Photos of the damage to the hemline of the ballerina's dress begin with the damage at the rear, and follow the hemline left around to the front. The last damage photo is of an apparent repair that I had not seen before attempting to take these shots. It is at the very front of the dress hemline, just w the ballerina has pulled up the front. At first I thought it must be the "seam" in the lace; I'm now convinced it is a very old repair. In two of the photos the 3 Inch mark on the ruler is centered just below an area of damage that is otherwie very hard to see. I hope these photos are helpful to you.
