The Very Best From Alaska On eBay!
This Is 100% Alaska Native Made Handicraft!
*** Great Vintage Alaskan Collectable! This Is A Wonderful Old Ivory Penguin Carving! A Very Very Nice Find! ***
This is a wonderfully carved, scrimshawed and hand painted Penguin. The carving has expert minutely done detail! The feathers are intricate as well as the eyes, red mount and feet. It stands on a piece of Ebony that has ivory inlays. The bird itself is standing on ivory with Baleen pins securing it to the Ebony. It is lightly faded as this penguin I believe to have been carved in the fifty's. The mount is more recent.
This wonderful specimen is 4 1/8" tall, the stand is 1 3/4" around at the base. The penguin itself is 3 1/8" tall, 1 1/8" wide and 1" deep. A very creative piece and mixture of materials.
Of course t are no penguins in Alaska, so I'm sure it was a poke at some of the tourists questioning the Natives.
The Alaska Natives are the only ones that can harvest the walrus and use the byproducts to create t wonderful works of art!
It is in perfect mint condition with no flaws what-so-ever.
Only the natives can harvest the whale and the walrus and use the products for their excellent works of art!
I support all first nations handicraft as in my opinion it is the best that t is!
For those of you that can hear the music. It is the wonderful works of 'Cusco'. This selection is titled 'Montezuma'.
