This auction is for a really good and impressively large London decorated Nantgarw porcelain plate. The plate is approx. 9 ½ inches in diameter and is very finely painted with sprays of garden flowers surrounded by a gilt dentil rim. Fully impressed NANTGARW C-W on the base, this plate is absolutely genuine and is in good condition with only very very minor wear to the gilt dentil rim. The enamels are in excellent order with no signs of wear and there are only a few minor manufacturing spots in the glaze, most notably under one of the green leaves but this is hardly noticeable. Needless to say, the porcelain body is excellent being extremely translucent. The plate is in very good condition overall. There are a couple of small stable old hairlines to the rim and one small scratch to the glaze, these being shown on photograph 4 between 1 o'clock and 2 o'clock. They are really very slight and only run for about 3/4 inch from the rim; they do not affect the floral spray in that part of the plate. There is also slight crazing to the glaze which does seem to happen on Welsh porcelain, particularly if it is London decorated. This is a fine example in excellent display condition with no chips or restoration. Virtually no wear to any part of the plate.
