This is a turn of the century Washburn mandolin ,measuring 24 inches longI know almost nothing about string instruments so please feel free to ask questions if my description leaves anything outIt has 28 ribs,materials are rosewood ,mahogany ,ebony ,ivory ,tortiseshell and mother of pearlT is MOP inlay with scrimshaw designs running all the way up the neck ,set into anoverlaid base of what i believe is ebonyTortise shell pickgaurd with Mop inlayIvory pegs and trim around the tone hole and ribbingHeavily detailed metal engraved piece (florals,scrollwork and floral )at the back of the tuning area and w the strings are held on (i am sure t are proper names for these bits,I don't know them)I tried to take detailed photos of the imperfections:t is a crack running lengthwise from the bottom to the bridge (about 4 inches)t is a small piece of the wood inlay missing around the tone hole w the inlay has buckled and the piece next to it is looseT are three small sections of ivory trim missing from the bottom of the ribs in the back(1/16 th in.,1/8 in.1/2 in.)some of the slivers of material (ivory?) that are between the ribs are missingsurface crack at the bottom back of neckseveral very small bits of white on the ribbing (like paint rubbed off on it )I have not made any attempt to clean this as I am not trained to do soFrom what I can tell read more
