A late georgian pin cushion or emery in the shape of a melon. I've had this authenticated by a well known auctioneers in Harrogate and dated to about 1800-1820. It's very small being about 1 inch x 1 inch. It feels a bit like soft moleskin or velvet and I think it's filled with sand. It's in quite good condition although it has one or two marks / holes in the velvet, but they don't go through to the interior. Sorry about the pictures but I've had an awful job trying to get it in focus as it's so small. It may also be missing some leaves or a stalk from the top? If you have any questions please let me know, but please allow time for a response as I work full time. I'm listing another old pincushion - please have a look.
