This Late War,Mid Weight Dense tiger stripe lined rain parka shows all evidence of South East Asia theater employment. The parka exterior is made from standard early rain poncho material and zipper is the standard USGI equipment unit. The LMD lining was made from a fatigue shirt as evidenced by the button holes present. Inside the neck area is red marker showing ownership of a "Lt. Lewis",typical of officer types who habitually mark even a custom item. The parka shows signs of moderate wear and is intact and fully serviceable. The jacket is a generous 45 inches in the chest and 30 inches from neck to tail. To those unfamiliar with the climate extremes of South East Asia, the Central Highlands could be quite cold and wet during the winter months and standard issue rain gear was inadequate. In the late 70s and into the 80s, officer personnel and senior NCOs would modify the issue rain parka in a similar fashion utilizing the ERDL pattern poncho liner for insulating value. This is a great Viet Nam War artifact that has practical application for the curator of Tiger Stripe uniforms out there who enjoys displaying his colors. Good Luck and Free Shipping World Wide !
