This auction is for an original WWII Kar 98k G43 K43 mid to Late War German Cleaning Rod not a repro . Typical late war rough manufacture.12 1/2" cleaning rod that will fit 1940 and later Mauser Kar98k rifles. Will also fit G/K43 rifles. If you have a Russian capture or other import it is possible that the stock was changed. An easy way to tell if your rifle takes a 12.5" or 10" rod is to look under the rear band. If the nut for the rod is under the band it takes a 10" rod.The rod is in excellent condition 75% of the original finish. Not bent, rusted or no damaged threads. It is also unnumbered so it will make a perfect replacement part.You can tell it is WWII German by the manufacturing techniques and physical characteristics of the cleaning rod. The rod has the correct "V" angled cuts on the patch holder end to hold the patch in place and the correct threads with tapered point on the other end (both missing from repros). Machine marks characteristic of late war manufacture. Beware of repro's with the wrong threads that may damage your rifle.Check this website for information on original and reproduction rods.
