Signed Porcupine Quill Native American Basket âe" Excellent Condition âe" Robin Item Description we have a wonderful Hand made Great lakes area Native American Quill box made by the talented Artist Laura Parkey from the Burt lake (Cheboiganing) band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians in Brutus Michigan . The family has been making baskets for generations. This well crafted porcupine quill Native American basket is in magnificent condition. It has only one tiny flaw which can be seen in the photograph one quill on the side of the lid has come loose or broken. This delightful lidded porcupine quill basket measures almost 4âein diameter and is almost 2âe deep, this is a medium sized quill basket. Very Fine Quill work! The top and sides are fully covered. And the rim of the lid and inside rim of the box is bound with Sweet grass (which is what smells delightful). The bottom of the basket has delicate needle work very neat with a pattern along the rim of thebirch bark bottom. On the perfect birch bottom the basket is clearly signed âe~made by Laura Parkey April, 1981âe and it has a perfect birch bark interior. This quill basket is quite magnificent, made in April, in the spring when the robins come out this basket explodes with the moment flowers pop out around the robin a showpiece for any collection.
