A boxed dessert set in 800 silver by the famous German maker, Louis Kuppenheim. Kuppenheim was the leading firm of enamellers in Germany in the pre-World War One decades. The firm also executed designs by Hans Christiansen of the Darmstadt artists and crafters community. It is very difficult to photograph Kuppenheim's distinctive hallmark. Each piece, however, is well marked along with 800 for 800 silver. I don't know if this is one of the patterns designed by Hans Christiansen. But the design is certainly reflective of the Jugendstil. Another interesting feature is that the set was retailed by the jewler, Lazarus Posen of Berlin and Frankfurt. The seal stamped on the silk lining tells all. I am uncertain what the knife blades and the fork prongs are made of. Possibly, they're some kind of bronze, though they could also be vermeil. The knives measure Six & One-Half [ 6.50 ] inches in length, and the forks are Six [ 6.00 ] inches in length. Together, all 12 pieces weigh about Ten [ 10.00 ] regular ounces. As I said, though, I am uncertain what material the blades and prongs are made of. The pieces are in good condition. A few very tiny dings, but othrwise fine. The box is worn and the white silk lining is discolored in places.
