This is a helmet that was used in open cockpit trainers in the 1930's The helmet worn by the student was connected by tubes to the instrctor who could speak to him through a small cup. The early aircraft had no electrical system so this worked very well. The helmet is in very good condtion and appears to never been used. The lining ( chamois ) is claen, the ear-pads are clean. The helmet has the unusual feature of a double chin strap. It also has snap down tabs for a goggle strap. The speaking tube is metal and the tubing is a gray coiled metal with rubber lining. This is a rare part of aviation history. Size 7 3/8.
